The Every Drop Project

California is in the middle of its worst drought in decades. This has led to a water crisis throughout the state. Ordinary citizens watering their yards is the number 1 source of water waste in the urban sector. EBMUD, (East Bay Municipal Utilities District) supplies water to millions of Bay Area household and The Home Depot (with 16 East Bay location) is the number 1 home improvement outlet in the U.S. - are teaming up to change this.

The Every Drop app is a mobile tool that lets users transform their yardscapes by adding drought tolerant plants, trees and groundcover that use up to 90% less water than more traditional lawns and gardens.
A quick video detailing the UI and functionality of the Every Drop App.
To get the word out, we’re hitting the streets. Setting up parklets in the Bay Area that immerse people in the drought tolerant yardscapes they can create using the Every Drop App.
The innovative nature of awareness and experience these parklets provide will generate huge buzz, get featured on Bay Area news sites and popular lifestyle blogs, getting the word out to more and more people who might not be able to find one themselves. *THIS IS A SIMULATED PRESS RESPONSE
Even the Governor is a fan. Embracing the idea of such a technologically advanced community using their creative powers to help solve this huge issue.*THIS IS A SIMULATED PRESS RESPONSE
Next we’re sending out messages promoting the Every Drop App on seed cards, blown into Bay Area Publications with a pointed message. Targeting those who do what they can to help the environment, and prompting them to get the app and transform their yard by embracing the work they already do.
These cards are biodegradable paper infused with cactus seeds that will sprout if planted in soil outdoors.
Here we see the seed cars in context. Inside magazines similar to the size and placement of subscription cards.
The Bay Area alone has nearly a dozen publications with circulation that adds up to hundreds of thousands of residents.
This is an example of a Facebook share of a yard design using the Every Drop App. Word of mouth furthering the exposure of the app.
